VNI West

VNI West is a critical infrastructure project that will increase the transmission capacity between Victoria and New South Wales. It is designed to improve energy security, reliability, and affordability by allowing for greater integration of renewable energy sources.

The Victorian portion of the project, which will be overseen by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), includes approximately 240km of 500 kV double-circuit overhead lines and a new terminal station near Kerang.

Following the appointment of a Development Partner in mid-2025, the delivery and commissioning phase is expected to run from mid-2026 to 2029, with the project slated to be operational in late 2029 or early 2030.
